1. What it is

The ADMAG TI Series AXG (including the AXG150 size variant) is a magnetic (electromagnetic) flowmeter made by Yokogawa. According to their data sheet:

  • It is designed for industrial process lines (oil & gas, chemical, pulp & paper, food & beverage, metal & mining).
  • It measures the volumetric flow of conductive liquids by the electromagnetic principle. Specifically, the general spec sheet states: “By applying the occurrence of electromotive force proportional to the flow velocity when fluid moves in the magnetic field...”

2. How it works (Principle of Operation)

  • The flowmeter’s sensor includes a measuring tube lined with an insulating liner (e.g., PFA or ceramic) and has two electrodes mounted on the tube wall.
  • A magnetic field is applied across the flow path, and as the conductive fluid flows through, a voltage (emf) is induced between the electrodes proportional to the fluid’s velocity. The instrument converts that into a volumetric flow rate (and integrated flow).
